At Landulph we feel Physical Education has an important role to play and we have worked hard to provide high quality lessons and extra-curricular activities.

Our Curriculum

A wide range of PE is delivered to the pupils, which aims to engage and inspire all pupils. Lessons are taught by our class teachers, as well as external providers for blocks and one off sessions. Jenny Nash is the PE Link Teacher for the Saltash Cluster, based at which provides competitions, festivals and inset training to the 7 partnership primary schools plus Jenny offers a 6 week teaching block for half a day per week within the year.   Jenny also works with the PE coordinators to help them write PE development plans if required, and facilitate any other PE requests they may have.

We have also bought into the ARENA partnership, which is the sports partnership for North and East Cornwall based at Callington.  Jenny’s role works in partnership with ARENA.  Arena provide CPD, strategic competition, plus the PE Conference and a choice of other activities depending on your membership level.

Our extra-curricular programme is extensive and includes after school clubs, and inter school competitions. The majority of our after school clubs are run by our committed staff and are free of charge. Our yearly programme includes, cross country, football, bikeability, netball, tennis, tag rugby, multi-skills, little league, gymnastics and athletics club.  We monitor participation and check attendance. Currently 93% of our eligible school population attend after school clubs. We target those not attending after school clubs in Upper KS1 and KS2 to encourage them to find alternative ways to develop healthy lifestyles. We also enter a variety of competitions with our school teams.  We have already achieved the Gold Award in the School Games Mark for 4 consecutive years.

We work closely with external sport providers and for all children to be taught by an external coach for at least 1 term, every year.  We are currently working with PAFC, Go Active and Tom Wyman who are each helping to further develop PE at Landulph whilst promoting a love for sports and activity amongst all pupils in the school.

We are committed to high quality continual professional development for all our staff not just teachers.
