What do our governors do?

School governors are a team of people who work closely with the head teacher to make key decisions vital to the successful running of the school. The governors appoint the head of school and make decisions that directly affect the education and well-being of the children. They play an important role in improving standards throughout the school and agree the school’s budget. Each governor is appointed by the South East Cornwall Multi Academy Regional Trust Board (SMART) according to the skills and experience they can bring to the role. Our schools governing board is made up of the head of school, a senior teacher, three parents, one temporary staff governor, two community governors and another yet to be appointed governor along with a clerk to the governors.

Our governors are very active and during the academic year governors join us for three governor days during which time the governors meet with the other governors, staff and children. Monitoring visits take place during this time and our governors also attend parents’ evenings, governor training and represent Landulph School at the Multi Academy Trust meetings.

The term of office for a school governor is normally four years. The local governing board have a governor day once a term. More information about each of our governors can be found on our Meet our Governors page.

To contact any of the school governors please write to the school.
